When you make your decisions about whether to wear a mask.
When you decide whether you are "well enough" to go to work.
When you are juggling tasks and forget hand sanitizer step before turning that doorknob.
When "it's just to the store and back".
When you don't think it is necessary.
When it is "against your freedom".
When you just don't want to be told what to do.
Of course new rules are irritating, but right now they are the first line of defense against a virus that is bringing the world to its knees. But that is hard to visualize, right?
This virus would bring me to my knees. I don't know if I could go one round with COVID-19. Maybe. Maybe I would come out on top, but as an immunocompromised person with several autoimmune diseases there is a reason I still have not stepped foot outside my home in 125 days excluding: doctors visits, hospitalization, my mother's (who is co-quarantined), and the pharmacy.
You want a reason to wear a mask? Here is one.
The only safe way for me to leave my house is if I am wearing my mask and you are wearing yours. Just one leaves one of us exposed. Please think about those of us who have been in our homes as long as everyone on this rollercoaster and will remain there until either
1) everyone able wears a mask or 2) there is a vaccine. #WearThemForMe
Please prepare, don't panic.
