Day 20: Tuesdays with Allie

After a late night blood sugar crash around 3:00 a.m., I woke up around 7:00 a.m. today feeling fairly sick to my stomach and with a pounding headache. Sure enough, as soon as I checked my blood sugar, I found that it had surged upward. Getting some insulin and fluids on board, I dressed and tiptoed down the stairs to let Alex sleep for a few more hours.

I have been enjoying taking time to read and journal in the morning, so I started with that, feeling that playing guitar this early might be counterproductive given my acrobatic tiptoeing act moments before. It was actually a very good thing that I rose first today (even though I will be a little short on sleep), because Alex did not wake up to his alarm. Or second alarm. Or any of the seven alarms, phone call from me downstairs, or first few minutes of trying to wake him up that I embarked on when I noticed he was just wo minutes shy of his class start time.

We may need a new system.

Yesterday was wildly productive for me and so I am allowing myself to slow down a little bit today in the hopes that I can have a second wind for a structured tomorrow. I am excited to hear some of the musicians and comedians slated to go live today,a although I am not sure how much more of Tiger King I can take at this point...I am hoping to lean into some yoga and start reading my April book for Becky's Book Club (@basiclandcave). If you haven't checked her out, definitely head over to her instagram for some great reading challenges of all varieties that will keep you engaged an excited as a reader. As for me, I am excited to dive headfirst into this new book with a fresh mug of tea (and a home-baked biscuit) and see where we end up...

Prepare, don't panic.

-Allison
