Today is a day when many of us are holding our breath in Ohio-we are supposed to be "reaching our peak" today in regards to the number of COVID cases our state will experience. Since we have been pretty successful so far at "flattening the curve," this peak is likely to last a while, but be way fewer people per day than without intervention.
To manage my anxiety, today I am doing a virtual meditation retreat to release fear (I am also hoping to release my need for perfection-wish me luck!) and am playing a mid-week game of D&D with some cousins who have not been able to play yet with our group.
There is lots of news, from Britain's PM going to the ICU with COVID, to Bernie Sanders dropping out of the presidential race, to daily statistics worldwide regarding this pandemic...but sometimes it is just a little too much to synthesize.
Every moment we are just breathing through it, praying and sending good intentions to our healthcare workers and scientists--along with our fellow human beings. For now, I am going to be grateful for our ability to get groceries (and a lot of soda...) and put one foot in front of the other.
Maybe I will spend a few minutes during this second sunny day just enjoying the tranquility of my own backyard and give thanks for those things that I do have. Breathe, hold. Exhale, hold. Breathe.
Prepare, don't panic.
