Day 63: Ohio Strong

Today there was no press conference from Gov. DeWine, Dr. Amy Acton, and Lt. Gov. Husted as this is the week that some Ohio businesses are permitted to reopen with the Ohio Strong movement. I have grown used to the 2:00 briefings from Gov. DeWine and his team and am looking forward to hearing more tomorrow about further guidance and best practices. In this time of uncertainty for businesses, fear of COVID-19, and general unease at the unprecedented nature of this climate, I am glad we have such good leadership to demonstrate what a positive cohesive effort looks like.

Please, Ohioans, remember to do as D.r Acton says and "Don you mask and cape" when leave your home. We need a culture that fosters protecting one another for this to work. Gov. DeWine has called on all Ohioans to demonstrate support for the people and businesses of Ohio by flying the Ohio flag. I think this is a beautiful idea. Much like wearing a mask in public, flying our flag is a visual representation of our respect and unity with one another.

This household is ready to answer the call and provide the example that our governor is asking for...we are better together. Every time.

Despite the big reopening in the state, I am still housebound as nothing medically has changed for intervention or prevention of this virus on a personal level for me. Although it feels surreal to type in the days into the title line, it is a constant reminder of how far we have come, and also how far we have yet to go. Although I long for the day when I am allowed to walk to the park and talk to my neighbors, for now I am content watching my neighbor's flag blowing with the fierce wind outside and knowing that we are on the same team.

Prepare, don't panic,

-Allison
