Day 74: D&D Marathon

Sunday we spent all day doing one of our favorite recreational activities: Dungeons and Dragons. After our regular weekly game with our cousins, we played a second evening game with our squad and got up to all sorts of shenanigans.

It has been such a blessing to find the different, creative ways to connect with family and friends as this quarantine has dragged on and on (even longer for those of us with compromised immune systems). Whether it has been video calls and chats, playing games online, or going back to old fashioned letter writing, my intentionality of spending time is so much stronger today than it was on March 13th when we started.

While I never in my wildest dreams thought that a tabletop, "nerdy" game would be the connecting force that provides weekly stability for my schedule, it has absolutely become the glue for some of my most treasured relationships. Whatever that thing is for you, no matter how silly, or mainstream, or nerdy, or just plain wacky--find that thing for you that can be your glue to your people. Connection is the most valuable tool we have right now--let's all toss our inhibitions about "shoulds" and "what ifs" together and keep reaching out to those we love and care about. We can do this together.

Prepare, don't panic.
