Happy Fourth of July to those celebrating here in the U.S.A. Even during this time of physical distancing we celebrated with my mom by watching the newly-released "Hamilton" production on Disney+ which was incredible (I promise they aren't paying me to say that). This week has been tough with some ongoing sickness in our house (no COVID), but now we are back to some semblance of familiar disorder.

My mom also made us a beautiful flower arrangement with both the American flag and the Ohio flag. Although we are in an amazingly challenging time right now, I think that the way forward is to acknowledge our faults and embrace new ideas to continue propelling us forward.

Sometimes I feel like it is hard to see the momentum of progress as it starts...but as days, weeks, months go by, evidence of change becomes more and more evident.
So many of us feel like we "just want this to be over" or are "tired of all of this [pandemic]", but as time goes by I find myself realizing that history is not just what has already happened on the pages of textbooks. It is what is happening. What will happen. And in this moment, I ask myself the question of show last night, "Who lives, who dies...who tells your story?"
Whose story are you telling? What stories are you writing on these pages of the history books? Let us continue forward and be on the kind and courageous side of history. People are good, people.
Prepare, don't panic.
