Days 228-234: A Day in This Life?

Nothing about this time is easy. Everything about this time is crucial. For any fellow Tristate citizens, I strongly suggest you watch the Governor's brief from this past Thursday.

We jumped from 1,500 new cases a day to well over 3,800 per day in less than a week and topped over 4,200 today. This is officially frightening. There are multiple outbreaks in local supply chains. The two counties bordering my area have overflowed hospitals and have begun to open makeshift medical spaces.

Our state, as a majority, is acting as though this virus is a trivial inconvenience rather than an inconvenient truth. People continue to remove masks when with family because it feels safe. People travel between counties and even to other states just believing it will "be okay" and feeling they are doing all they can do. It simply is not true. We are at a consistent level 3 out of 4 health emergency. Who else is trying to process this?

Thank you to all of you who continue to take this threat seriously and accurately. Denying it now (or ever) is not only unhelpful, but actively destructive.I am devastated that the friends I used to see every week, two weeks at most, I have not seen since March. I have had a grand total of three friends over (one per get together) since March. I am starving for my friends' companionship...but being proactive and self-sacrificing is our only way forward together. Otherwise it is every man for himself and that just is not how this battle will go.

Knowledge is power, my friends. We can do this together.

Prepare, don't panic,

-Allison
