Days 250-253: A Good Day to Be a Buckeye.

All week while I was working, I was excited for this weekend--not only because it is my first weekend off this month--but for the OSU game today. At the half right now, things are still looking good for our guys.

My husband and I both love watching sports. Actually we are big sports fans in several different areas. We are big fans of the EPL soccer community (Go Arsenal!) We are big on our local teams as well from the Reds baseball team, to teams in the MLS like Columbus Crew and FC Cincinnati, and the NFL's favorite punching bag, The Bengals. Our national men and women's soccer teams are also regulars on our screen. At times when we were really starved for sports entertainment earlier this year we even dipped into John Oliver's Marble League for some laughs.

But for me, the team I will drop anything to watch will always be the Buckeyes. I loved my time at The Ohio State University and the community there.

I think one of the reasons that my husband and I have been watching even more sports than usual this year is when we watch a team like the Buckeyes, there is an instant connection with the rest of "Buckeye Nation." We don't need to be in the same room as other folks to know we are all rooting and enjoying the game together--and that is how it has always been.

Unchanged by the state of affairs in our community and around the globe. A place where. we can escape, if only for 3 1/2 hours into what feels like "normalcy" as we avoid eye contact with cardboard cutout fans and smile as coaches still put a clipboard over their already masked faces to not give the play away.

Sure there may have been some incredible in-person games or watch parties along the way, but having a family or friends text thread is not new for watching a great game at home. The community of the team is a net cast wide that brings us connection and camaraderie. So today...

It is a good day to be a Buckeye.

Let's go Buckeye Nation!

Prepare, don't panic,

-Allison
