It's political.
Vice President Mike Pence publicly received a vaccine to demonstrate the White House's faith (pun intended? absolutely.) in the emerging vaccines from three major companies.
It's professional.
Currently I am working 40-50 hours a week not only doing contact tracing work at the state-level, but also:
1) leading case investigations
2) training new investigators
3) providing shadowing experience
4) identifying hotspots and outbreaks
5) assessing and reporting cumulative data
6) participating on the first ever "COVID-19 strike team"
7) being deployed to a new county with new workflow every day
8) providing letters of isolation and release to my cases
9) assisting in my home base operations
10) making sure no one is a number-everyone is someone.
It's personal.
A close family member was tested after being nudged to get a test because of mild symptoms. They were positive. They are now out of their infectious period and doing well outside of home-isolation.
