Days 88-89: Connecting with Friends and Family

Friday night, Alex and I played a virtual Harry Potter Trivia game with our siblings. Although we did not win first place, we had a lot of fun and everyone knew at the answer to at least one question no one else did. Good teamwork!

Yesterday, we were part of a surprise, socially-distanced flashmob for.a wedding of a friend of our family. The bride and groom were so shocked (as were the parents and small wedding party) to be greeted with signs, horns honking, and a general hoedown in the parking lot. It was actually really beautiful and memorable in it's own right!

Afterward, we came home and spent time on zoom with some of our best friends. Relaxing, refueling. As much as fun as it all was (and worth it a thousand times over), my body started hinting it might be time for a break.

Today we connected with our cousins and my uncle for our weekly D&D session. We are finally actually in a dungeon and are going through it about how I would expect Scooby Doo and Co. to do it. Again, lots of fun for about four hours and a highlight of our week! We also were able to connect via zoom with Alex's extended family as well as some of Alex's friends from college afterwards.

Although it was a good day, I am still really struggling with how badly my chest is hurting and the general difficulties of trying to get well in this climate. WIth both of my lungs partially collapsed, and the left one being in pain all the time no matter what we hit it with, breathing is just tough--as are the symptoms associated with recovering from pneumonia.

I am choosing to get up on the hour, every hour I am awake, and walk around to house (even do some jumping jacks if I feel like I can) to speed up the process of my recovery.

Although we had a fun weekend, I am still getting really tired with just talking, walking, or if my medicine has worn off. Although I am super tired after all of our shenanigans this weekend, I believe in taking small steps just as long as they are in the right direction. Let's get after it y'all.

Prepare, don't panic.
